Guest Night/ Open house

Our guest night on the 18th of December 2013 was truly an enjoyable night whereby our members went way beyond their limits. They had invited their friends and relatives and much to our delight we played host to 17 guests. It being Christmas too, our SAA Henry Siew and VPPR Karen Cheah, Angeline Loo and many other members helped to decorate the room and the room became a Christmas Wonderland.  Kay Wong who was the TME enthralled those present with her charm and wit, rivaled by our evaluators Victor, Ho Fong Ming and Chrristine.   There was also a gift exchange session during the break and we also celebrated a few of the member's birthdays.   Thanks to the GE Dennis Wee who kept all of us entertained during the second half of the meeting as well as all the role players who gave concise reports. It was indeed a night to remember.

Updates from the Division B Governor

H appy Day Fellow Toastmasters of Division B,   Few months ago, I attended a talk by Ms.Hamidah Naziadin, Head of Group Corporate Reaources for CIMB. She was bubly, youthful and energetic although she just started her "5series" age.    One of the attendee posted question on her secret on maintaining that character and ensuring success for the bank, despite few mergers and takeovers in last 2 decade. She told us, " Most of the people has only 1 target in life and once they achieve it, they stop growing or progressing in life. Never satisfy with what you have and keep looking for new challenge and opportunity, your life will be interesting and energetic. My life is journey of various destination"   In Toastmasters, we have tendency to say, "I'm done with what I have", "I will do what past past year president/area governor did" & "I have achi

Updates from TI

February 2013 Board Meeting The 2012-2013 Board of Directors will meet February 22-23, 2013, in Southern California. The Board held its first in-person meeting after the convention in August. Since that time, the Board's committees have met virtually, focusing on topics that support the 2010 Strategic Plan. These virtual meetings have reduced the amount of time Board members need to spend at in-person meetings . This year's February Board meeting schedule has been reduced to two days. Following the completion of the meeting, the results of the discussions will be shared in writing on the Toastmasters International website instead of at a public board briefing or through streaming video. The meeting will be shorter and less expensive, however, the reporting will still be provided in a timely manner. Members can visit the Toastmasters International website to see the results of the Board meeting on February 25 and the ILC officer nomination results on February 23.

Area B4 Evaluation Contest: Religion, Politics, & Sex (Test Speaker)

On the 8th of September 2012, our very own charismatic I mmediate Past President, Lim Thian Seng, ACG, CL was the test speaker for the Area B4 Evaluation Contest. His title was "Religion, Politics, & Sex". Enjoy!

Gone beyond limits!

Let's hear from our club's runner up in the Club Speech Evaluation Contest which was held on the 28th of August 2012! To my surprise, I was not disqualified and came in 2nd! I was grinning from ear to ear when I got my trophy. Because it's been quite a while since I've gotten a trophy, a trophy that you get when you speak alone on stage (my fear, never my forte since young), and my first trophy in toastmasters. I've definitely gone beyond my limits!  Thank you,  Taman Indrahana Toastmasters ! -angeline- If you would like to contribute your own experiences in participating in speech contests, do leave a comment in the comment section below! :)

A message from Lay Kun, our Division B Governor 2011-2012

It is our priviledge to have an exceptional leader as our president, Lim Thian Seng, and outstanding members such as Victor Ong in our Taman Indrahana Family. This message below is from Lay Kun, Division B Governor 2011-2012 to show her appreciation to both members as they have played a huge part in sponsoring, guiding the newly founded club - Sunway University Toastmasters Club. Dear Thian Seng & all the Indrahanians,  Happy evening to you!  Division B has just came out from "the labour room" and we are cuddling a baby in our arm right now. :) Division B would like to convey our sincere thanks to the initiative and continuous help given to the Division  in the chartering of Sunway University Toastmasters Club. The baby club is born and we just can't thank this person e nough. He has given this new club lead to Taman Indrahana through Passion Drive 1 at the beginning of this term. He was the bridge that has connected us to Dr Nagiah, the Head (Academic) of Manageme

Speechcraft session - "How to evaluate"

Victor Ong was the lead speaker in the speechcraft session yesterday (21.02.2012). The session was on "How to evaluate?" He shared with us the do's and don't when giving an evaluation. He gave a 15minutes presentation with slides of information.  .  The newbies evaluated the three prepared speakers and they all generally did well. When there is fun in learning, learning becomes fun. The newbies made a great first attempt. Well done! Keep up the effort and soon the club will be filled with excellent evaluators. If you want to know what was the content of the presentation, and the secrets behind all the new evaluators. Do come and join our Taman Indrahana TM Club meeting! Or be a member instead!
