Dear Indrahanians,
Greetings to you.
Last meeting we had one of the most unusual Table Topics Sessions I've ever attended. It was conducted by Jen. She gave out a few topics & participants were supposed to tell us a lie based on those topics. Basically Jen wanted us to tell a Tall Tale.
A tall tale is a story with unbelievable elements but told in such a way that it could be true. So you can believe it or not. During the session, you could tell who are the true liars (a.k.a. Dominic), those who can't a tell a lie in their honest-to-goodness life (a.k.a. Alice), those who try but didn't quite succeed (a.k.a. Dr Choong), and those who are probably true blue liars - like our guest Victor and our very own Yuan.
For the record, Yuan won the Table Topics Award that night. Congrats to Yuan for being such a good liar! And kudos to Jen for such an entertaining session. Those of us who were present had a 'belly' good laugh.
Anan gave his ice breaker speech. Those of you familiar with Anan and his speeches would know by now that Anan is a talented speaker. Hearing his ice breaker, you wouldn't have thought that was his first Toastmasters prepared speech.
One is never too young or too old for adventure, as demonstrated by Le Ann in her recent 4x4 trip in the wild Malaysian jungle. But as she says, not to worry. Hi-tech gizmo products nowadays are so advanced, you have no hope of getting lost or stuck in the jungle.
Our GE, Foong Weng Tuck, gave a lively evaluation of our club meeting towards the end of the evening. I love his parting shot which was something to this effect: "If people throw bricks at you, collect them and build a foundation of learning from them." So profound and what a great lesson.
Oh, and guess who came for dinner that night...as well as attending meeting? Patrick, our 'long time no see' friend. He brought a prospective member from Taylor's College with him & rumours are running that she'll be joining us soon as a member...So let's hope to hear more good news soon.
Cheers & hope to see all you members at the next exciting meeting.
Kind rgds,
