Successful Event with Loghan's Workshop@8 Jan 2011

Successful Event with 'Unlocking the Keys to Contests' Workshop by DTM Loghan,
on 8 Jan 2011

Dear Indrahanians,

I'm happy to report to you that today we had a successful day with our workshop, 'Unlocking the keys to contests'. I think it must have been quite some time since Taman Indrahana organised a public workshop (if my memory serves me right). Certainly for this term, this is the first time we are organising one. I'm happy to say that we must have hit at least 100 ticket sales (we shall await KK's report), which means that we were able to bring a very meaningful & relevant workshop to some 90 participants at least. My personal target was 120 to 150 tix sold - but as we went along, we realised that we were competing against Div P's TLI2, many company functions, & many people still on leave. So I think I'm just grateful for what we achieved:-) Ho ho ha ha ha!

Coming from the champion horse's mouth, Loghan therefore played a big part in giving extraordinary value to the afternoon for many Toastmasters & non-Toastmasters. I believe many of those present were young & new Toastmasters, so you can imagine the chocful of tips they got from Loghan. Even for experienced TMs, it was a very valuable workshop of learning we could take home.

So a BIG THANK YOU to Loghan for his contribution.

And a BIG round of applause to Jade, as OC, & her team for bringing this event to life. Unfortunately Jade had work commitments & was unable to witness the final fruits of all her hard work & efforts. But without Jade driving the whole show, this event couldn't have happened. Thanks a bunch, Jade.

BIG thanks also to Jade's team - Victor for flexing his muscles to help us to get a free venue at Sunway Uni, May for her organising skills in helping with tix bookings & registration, Chee Yan for cheerfully coming early to assist her in the registration, KK for taking responsibility as the big time banker, Han for being the first to arrive to check things out as the Master of Logistics, Thian Seng as the charming Master of Ceremony to hold the show together, Choi Woon for ensuring we get our stomachs nicely filled with Durai's generous F&B offerings at minimum cost, Yeoh for taking all our pretty & handsome pictures as Director of Photography, and Peggy for ensuring we start & end on time.

Thanks also to all those who helped in pushing the sales of tickets to make it a valuable event for participants. Now our club has enriched our coffers a little:-)

So may we Indrahanians continue to achieve greatness together!

Warmest rgds,

Extended Appreciation from the OC, Jade:
Riding on the note of appreciation by Kay to the speaker and Organising Committee, special credit goes to Victor and Kay who going the extra mile to promote the tickets. In addition, Victor was working very hard to get the venue sponsored. And Kay, for inviting Loghan to hold the show and for her efforts behind the scene to ensure the effectiveness of the Talk. Personally, thank you for being a strong back-up for me, ensuring every aspect is well taken care of during the event.

Not forgetting Chrristine, who creatively designed the flyer to be sent out to the mass audiences. That was the first hand information reached out to the toastmasters. And thank you Dr Choong, for helping the club to sell the tickets.

A BIG THANK YOU TO ALL. To the Commitee, a pat on your shoulder!

With love and gratitude,
Jade Lim

Message from the Division Governor

Good day to all of you.   T here was once myself and NJ Singam (past  convention   organizing  Chair) went to one of the local bank to close the  convention  bank account. When we went to the counter, we informed the officer about the matter and she handed us 2 forms for us to initial it. Then she obtained our Identification Card for verification. Just within 4 minutes, the officer handed us the remaining balance and told us that, the account was closed. It was a total contrast, if we compared with opening a bank account, where we had to fill few forms, go through few  verification  and approvals prior to opening an account. The entire process took almost 2.5hours compared to closure of account which lasted only for 5 minutes.     We often forget or never ponder on the  initiator  of the club and their sacrifice &  hard work  to charter the club and we just need a single sheet of paper to close a ...

Updates from TI

February 2013 Board Meeting The 2012-2013 Board of Directors will meet February 22-23, 2013, in Southern California. The Board held its first in-person meeting after the convention in August. Since that time, the Board's committees have met virtually, focusing on topics that support the 2010 Strategic Plan. These virtual meetings have reduced the amount of time Board members need to spend at in-person meetings . This year's February Board meeting schedule has been reduced to two days. Following the completion of the meeting, the results of the discussions will be shared in writing on the Toastmasters International website instead of at a public board briefing or through streaming video. The meeting will be shorter and less expensive, however, the reporting will still be provided in a timely manner. Members can visit the Toastmasters International website to see the results of the Board meeting on February 25 and the ILC officer nomination results on February 23....
