History of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club

Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club (formerly known as Eagles Toastmasters Club Kuala Lumpur) is currently a club in Area B3, Division B in District 51.

It was chartered on 1^st June 1985 by our Chartered President, Dato’ Lawrence Chan Kum Peng and it is a community club formed with the following purpose:

1) To help its members improve their abilities to communicate effectively;

2) To provide for its members instructions, educational materials and opportunities which will give them skills and experience in the preparation and delivery of speeches;

3) To encourage its members to read and to listen analytically;

4) To provide for its members fair and constructive evaluation of their efforts toward self improvement;

5) To increase its members knowledge of the rules of parliamentary procedure and skills in conducting meetings and participating in group discussions;

6) To provide opportunities and encouragement for its members to appear before audiences and to express their thoughts creditably.

The club is currently having its meeting at 2^nd Floor, IJM Cobra Club, 7 Lorong Utara B, Petaling Jaya, Selangor. The club involves in active educational programmes including organizing speech contest such as Humorous Speech Contest, Speech Evaluation Contest, International Speech contest and Table Topics Contest. It also conducts workshops and joint meetings with other toastmasters club.

The club organizes workshops and seminars for members of the public and students. These include Youth Leadership and Speechcraft Programmes. We sponsor and mentor clubs. Here are some of the clubs that we have sponsored over the last few years.
