Meeting has long adjourned but the mentoring session just started. The photo was captured at one of the toastmasters meetings held recently. The passion of the mentors and the eagerness of learning of the mentees prompted me to snap this photo. The above sharing session lasted for about 30-40 minutes after the meeting adjourned. Mentoring is an essential part of Toastmasters movement as it helps new member to learn, master and hone public speaking and leadership skills. Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club has a well-balanced blend of experienced and new members. Recently, the author did an analysis, the median of the toastmastering experience of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Clubs' members is 8 years! (methodology: median = total duration of toastmastering experience of all members/all members) The figure means that when new members join Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club, they can instantly tap into the rich experience of veteran toastmasters of the club. A young and cheerful lady, at the age of 23 has unlocked the secret of happiness when she listened to the CD of The Secret, by Rhonda Bryne. She concluded her speech that the secret of happiness is  ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE . Her speech reminded me that how blessed I am with what I have now and that is true happiness. When we are grateful, we are at the state of happiness. I am counting and appreciate the blessing that I have. The recent flight tragedies that happened strike me with a realization that we do not know when we may face calamity. We have just finished our toastmasters meeting today. It was an exuberant evening ignited by exciting line of table topic and prepared speech speakers, evaluators and our energetic Madam General Evaluator, Grace Tan, ACB, CL. KK Ng, CTM was our table topic master of the day. We have 5 speakers took part in the table topic session today. They are Dr Devi, DTM, Ailin, CC, Raja Mohan (guest), Karen Sze Tho, CC and Jeremy, TM. Dr Devi shared that in order to achieve our dream we need to think out of the box, Raja Mohan on the need to act on the dream to make it a reality, Ailin on seeing the dream within, Jeremy on how to plan to achieve our dream and lastly, Karen shared on living out our dream. Today we have three speakers delivering their prepared speeches. Toastmasters Club is a non-profit educational organization that teaches public speaking and leadership skills. We aim to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. Our president, Ting Pei Lim, CC, CL truly exemplify this spirit when she delivered her speech and presented an unique performance during our installation night on 11th July 2014. She sang 'Count on me' by Bruno Mars while playing ukelele. She conveyed her message to club members that we can count on her and vice versa in this journey of toastmastering. We have successfully organized our installation night on 11 July 2014 to discharge outgoing officers and install incoming officers. What a great evening that we have. Taman Indrahana continues to stand tall and progress in the leadership journey!
