FRIM Outing@24 Oct 2010

FRIM Outing @ 24 October 2010 (Sunday)

It's actually quite rare to have rain on a Sunday morning - after all surely it's not called SUNday for nothing, right? But rain it did. Actually it would have been a perfect morning to sleep in!

The weather was forlorn looking indeed. Though it wasn't pouring cats & dogs, we couldn't follow our programme. So we trotted off to breakfast on PAN MEE instead; this is supposed to be a famous destination in Kepong. Indeed just as well we were early cos the place is only a one-shop lot & the tables were filling up fast.

We broke fast together with May & her family (her handsome husband Kwang & her handsome boys), Yeoh, Jade, Thian Seng, Fanny, Jee Peng, our last week's club guest Chin, & myself. Verdict: If you like Pan Mee, you'll like this place.

Our timing was good, as the rain cleared after our stomachs were full. But by then May & family had to leave us. Well, the rest of us now set forth on our real adventure - going on the Canopy Walk (or as Teresa taught us, Cannot Pee Walk!).

Jee Peng was our capable & very fit leader. The rest of us were new to this Canopy Walk - I think it was quite an exciting experience for us. The roped bridge looked rather fragile, I have to say, & it's not a good idea for people with agoraphobia (Aha! If you don't know the meaning of this word, look up the dictionary:-)) We were high above the ground, almost as high as the trees, & could catch a great view from way up high.

It was a lovely morning walk, & we had lots of other walkers & mountain bikers for company. It seems a very popular place. Our "lunch" after the walk was refreshing coconut water - so nice after a long hot walk (yeah, by now, it was a real SUNday). Laughter Yoga was unfortunately scrapped as our timing was all out, & I guess everyone was tired after the morning exercise. So no HO HO HA HA HA!

THANK YOU to Jade who organised this trip for us as VPPR, & to Jee Peng for being our leader.

The next one, will be a Pre-Lunar Year makan in Jan 2011. So watch out for more news:-)

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during...

Meeting on 27 October 2009

Dear Indrahanians, Greetings to you. Last meeting we had one of the most unusual Table Topics Sessions I've ever attended. It was conducted by Jen. She gave out a few topics & participants were supposed to tell us a lie based on those topics. Basically Jen wanted us to tell a Tall Tale. A tall tale is a story with unbelievable elements but told in such a way that it could be true. So you can believe it or not. During the session, you could tell who are the true liars (a.k.a. Dominic), those who can't a tell a lie in their honest-to-goodness life (a.k.a. Alice), those who try but didn't quite succeed (a.k.a. Dr Choong), and those who are probably true blue liars - like our guest Victor and our very own Yuan. For the record, Yuan won the Table Topics Award that night. Congrats to Yuan for being such a good liar! And kudos to Jen for such an entertaining session. Those of us who were present had a 'belly' good laugh. Anan gave his ice breaker speech. Those of you f...
