Taman Indrahana TMC is Proud.

Victor with his mentees
Taman Indrahana is proud to have a good mixture of senior and new members. This helps the club to constantly improve in being a better club term after term. The senior members become good mentors that help newer members to excel, and indirectly help the club succeed. This one particular member that deserves recognition is one of the experienced members in the club. He is none other than, Victor Ong.

Here is a write up regarding some of Victor's personal experiences when he was completing his forth CC title.

Member’s personal experience
Q : What does this educational achievement means to you?
A : This CC achievement represents my fourth CC attempt and I am already embarking on my fifth. When I repeat my CC Manual - it is always about doing it better than the last time - and so, it is about self-betterment.

Q : How long does it take to complete the educational goal?
A : This particular attempt took me 422 days. My earlier attempts took 218, 260, and 360 days respectively.

Q : How did you complete your educational goal?
A : I did it because I recognize that to be a good speaker, I need to speak regularly - hence my personal goal of wishing to speak at least once a fortnight. This excludes taking part in Table Topics, Evaluations and/or Contests. Most importantly, I did it because I enjoyed it immensely.

Q : What have you learned most from this journey - to achieve the educational goal?
A :  I learned that there is no one excellent speech - it is always about speaking to improve. I also learned that Toastmastering is a journey of self-discovery.; that we are always learning to improve and be a better speaker.

Q : Any personal setbacks or limitations while pursing the educational goal? If yes, how did you overcome it?
A : If there are challenges, I will just bulldoze my way through and do the best I can.

Q : Any words of advice, inspirational quotes or encouragement - for members who are "trying" to achieve the educational achievement?
A : My word of advice is to banish your fears and speak. And learn to enjoy speaking.

Q : Do you have any future plans after achieving this award?
A : My future plans are to continue speaking and once my AG stint is over, to participate in contests.

Q : Do you have a personal mentor to guide you on achieving this educational goals?
A : I have no mentor; everything I know is self-learned.

Q : When did you join as a Toastmasters member?
A : I joined as a Toastmaster on July 01, 2008.

Q : What does communication and leadership means to you?
A : To me, communication is extremely important because with communication, there is understanding. Leadership is equally important - but it should be servant leadership.

A job well done, Victor! Hope you enjoy your Toastmasters journey towards the fifth title!

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during

On 9 th September 2014, members and guests of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club turned up for the meeting in a warm manner, as everyone celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival – the theme of the meeting – together. The meeting room was decorated with lanterns with mooncakes served along with the refreshments. The meeting started off with the opening address by our president, Ting Pei Lim, CC. Before she ended her speech, Pei Lim took out her ukulele and played 月亮代表我得心 “The Moon Represents My Heart” by the late Teresa Teng, with the audience started singing along. Technology came in handy when some members took out their smartphones and searched for the lyrics of the song.
