Updates from the Division B Governor

Happy Day Fellow Toastmasters of Division B,

Few months ago, I attended a talk by Ms.Hamidah Naziadin, Head of Group Corporate Reaources for CIMB. She was bubly, youthful and energetic although she just started her "5series" age.

One of the attendee posted question on her secret on maintaining that character and ensuring success for the bank, despite few mergers and takeovers in last 2 decade. She told us, "Most of the people has only 1 target in life and once they achieve it, they stop growing or progressing in life. Never satisfy with what you have and keep looking for new challenge and opportunity, your life will be interesting and energetic. My life is journey of various destination"

In Toastmasters, we have tendency to say, "I'm done with what I have", "I will do what past past year president/area governor did" & "I have achieved what I wanted".

In Toastmasters too, some may set the target to be DTM. But, once you achive it, what's next? If you have become the President of the Club, so what's next?

We meet different type of people, various situation at various locations.

This means, you need to eliminate being in tunnel vision and staying in your comfort zone. Similar to Kaizen costing, you need to have continous improvement, which mean you should eb ready to face new chalengges in order for you to grow in your life.

Thus, rather than putting a "fullstop" in our achievement, let's put a "comma" and keep moving and progressing.

Let's sustain the energy as life is journey of various destination.

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money.
