Dear Taman Indrahanians & Guests,
A round of applause to our club for having our first new member of the term on the night of our 28 July meeting – Mellen Koh. I’m sure many of you would have welcomed on board by now.
Here’s a re-cap of the highlights of the evening:
1. Thian Seng set the main meeting going with a very thought-provoking invocation. A key question we should all start thinking & doing is: “How would you write your own Obituary?” Because how you write it now is how you live now. (I have done mine – because I also learned this from a seminar I attended. So over to you.)
2. We had the Ice Breaker from Kevin. It was really an insight into what makes Kevin tick & click. He’s a very dynamic, young entrepreneur who should be able to teach us a thing or two about business development, whilst we share our Toastmasters journey with him. I think we should induct him into our fund-raising projects for the club.
3. Yuan was doing only her second speech & it turned out to be such a chilli padi speech, advising us to say NO to office bullying. She was cheered on & evaluated by another chilli padi in our club, Jade.
4. Here’s another fabulous news: Durai won the “Best Table Topic” award that evening! Isn’t it wonderful to know how well he has progressed (especially if you remember how tongue-tied he was during his first attempt)? You must all congratulate Durai if you haven’t done so already. My one concern though, is how the rats at his shop are as big as the cats! Let’s hope he was only joking.
5. One last highlight which sounds like a fantastic fact & fantasy – LeAnn played the role of the Timekeeper for the first time in her 15 years with Toastmasters! Unbelievable but true.
6. And we ended our meeting at 9.30pm!
During the Presidential Address, President Han allowed me some airtime to share my ‘vision’ for our club as VPE 2009/2010. Read about it in a separate email, on the Flight of the Canadian Geese.
See you all on Contest Day, 11 Aug 2009. Come to give support even if you’re not involved. For newer members who don’t know what happens during a contest, here’s another great learning opportunity. Don’t miss it!
May all great blessings come your way.
