Meeting on 8 September 2009

Dear Indrahanians,

Our Toastmasters meeting last week was another week of learning from our members & guests.

We learned a little bit more about Fanny's childhood from her icebreaker. Shyly but confidently she read out her speech, which was a great starter point for her Toastmasters journey. I'm sure she'll be better & better as she moves along.

LeAnn shared with us something very personal to her - something that she rarely shares with others (so I'm sorry that many of you members missed out on it!). We wish her all the best on her spiritual journey.

I believe we are soon to have a couple more new members in our club - Sim is rejoining our fold; Durai's son, Anand, is likely to join in our next meeting (otherwise, we shall "blackmail" Durai!) FYI, Anand won the "Best Table Topic" ribbon that evening - great way to go for a beginner.

Wooi Hong tried out his first Humour Master role & was also awarded Half CC that evening. So do send him your congrats & encouragement.

Koon Kow also tried out his first Table Topic Evaluation, after so many years in Toastmasters. See, it's never too late to try out new things in your life.

Thanks to Yuan who agreed to take over the role of AH counter at the last minute - it was her first role in looking out for our ums & ahs.

Our GE was Loghan & he shared with us an important lesson - being a champion is all about discipline & hard work.

Ahem, our time management wasn't so good this time - we'll have to try harder next time!

But don't let that worry you. As long as we take something of value with us, it's time well spent.

So join us for the next meeting & those of you who haven't volunteered for a role, please do so.

See you on 8 Sept.

May all great blessings come your way.

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during

On 9 th September 2014, members and guests of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club turned up for the meeting in a warm manner, as everyone celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival – the theme of the meeting – together. Before she ended her speech, Pei Lim took out her ukulele and played 月亮代表我得心 “The Moon Represents My Heart” by the late Teresa Teng, with the audience started singing along.
