Meeting on 8 Dec 2009

Dear Indrahanians,

Greetings to you.

Do you ever wish that you could do with a bit of relaxing after a hard day's work? Sure, you could go drinking or partying or have dinner with friends. Or you could go to a play, or a comedy show - but then you'd have to pay a hefty sum for it.

Well, you could just have come to our Toastmasters meeting last Tuesday on 8 Dec & you'd have had a whole night of belly laughs & learning, that would have cost you almost nothing!

Do you know, we had so many DTMs (Fong Ming, LeAnn, Dom & Dr Devi) & past Presidents (I'm sorry, I can't even keep count with all my fingers!) on that night - it was unbelieveable. In fact, there were so many high-flying members, they were quite unruly & dominating. The SAA (your truly, who had to stand in for Jenny) had to use the gavel persistently to call the room to order.

That's for starters. We had 4 guests, 3 of whom were thanks to Koon Kow. One of them was even game to take part in Table Topics.

I loved the way Koon Low conducted his TT session - it had a theme & he conducted it snappily. The whole session went on so smoothly.

And if you were not there, what you'd have missed most would have been the humour. We had humour almost the whole night long.

Our guest Victor (who replaced May at the last minute) gave us funny tips on how to keep slim, from his advanced manual on Humour.

Our Prez Han gave us serious implications on the lack of sleep, but when he advised that the bed should only be for sleep and only sleep - there was mayhem! Everybody demanded to know where would you then do 'it' (SRP decorum does not allow me to mention the 's_ _' word). Which then raised a lot of suggestions from the floor - like the bathroom, dining room, living room, kitchen sink (remember the movie 'Fatal Attraction'?), etc, etc - everyone's imagination was working overtime.

Whoa! What a ruckus from all the ex-Presidents & DTMs.

Hahaha. Oh, what a night.

May all great blessings come your way.

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during...
