Meeting on 25 May 2010

Dear Indrahanians,

Well, well, well. Guess what? We had up to 30 attendants for this 25 May meeting! What a wonderful turn-out!

Of course it was partly to do with the Crystal ladies contributing to the numbers, since this was a joint-mini meeting with Crystal Club. The Crystal ladies may have been small in numbers, but they were big on impact. Their Table Topic Master, Emily Bong, gave us a very entertaining session. Their TT participant, Christine, went on to win the Table Topic award. Their assignment speaker, Bong Yi Lin, gave us a valuable message to donate blood to save lives. And their AH Counter Ng Siew Tho & Timer Ching Teng Yoong, kept us in tow with our speech crutches & time management.

A big hand to Crystal.

Jen was her sweet self as TME to sweeten & lighten up the meeting with her smiles & soft-spoken voice. KK entertained us for 9 minutes with his first Advance speech from the manual ‘Humorously Speaking’. He deserves a huge round of applause for making the bold move to start on his advance speeches after a long hiatus. Kudos to KK!

The rest of the role players, as usual, did a credible job. Special thanks to Jade who stepped in as SAA at the last minute.

Now the other reason why we had such a large attendance is of course due to our AGM night. We had some long lost friends appearing once again, like Charis, Olga, Jee Peng, Philip, Yuan, Kevin, Fong Ming. Thanks a lot to their interest & support to the club.

Well, the AGM went on smoothly, with relevant questions being asked. I guess all’s well that ends well. And for the benefit of members who were unable to make it for that night, here’s the EXCO 2010/2011 members who have been nominated & voted in:

Prez – Kay Wong

VPE – Victor Ong

VPM – Yeoh Cheng Lim

VPPR – Jade Lim

Treasurer – Ng Koon Kow

Secretary – May Yong

SAA – Fanny Thang

Committee Member 1 – Yap Choi Woon

Committee Member 2 – Lim Thian Seng

These are the people who have sportingly agreed to serve the club for the next term 2010/2011 – so let’s give them a big hand. Clap Clap Clap.

But seriously speaking, as the incoming Prez, I’d like to say a big THANK YOU to our members who trust me with this job. And also very importantly I wish to say a huge THANK YOU to the rest of the incoming EXCO team who have readily agreed to work together with me in the next term to look into the interests of the club. Thanks a lot to all Taman Indrahanians!

May all great blessings come your way.

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during...
