Meeting @ 27/9

What a night! 33 people turned up for a regular meeting! This number includes guest from Sunway University! The night started out by the presidential address, Lim Thian Seng took the floor and asked the guest to introduced themselves. Next! the usual energetic, hyper, fullofsarcasm  yet humourous, Victor Ong took over the control as the Toastmaster of the Evening! He created an blissful atmosphere in the room to start off the meeting.
Table Topics, done by Undarma( 1st timer ) gave opportunities to 5 speakers to try on deep topics that require the participants to think hard, thoroughly, and critical. Topics such as eg: 1) What is the significance of life? 2) Who inspire you most and why? 3) If you are the ruler of the world for 1 day, what are the 3 things will you do?
Participants like Fanny, Angie and Tong Fong, took up the challenge and gave it a go towards the given topic! All the participants did extraordinary well.

After that came the assignment speeches. First one up is Angeline Loo on her project #2. She gave a thorough informative, educational and yet interesting presentation on the way to prevent breast cancer. Next up is Teoh Lee Lian doing her project # 3. She did the presentation regarding the advantages of donating blood, also rich in knowledge and plenty of good information for the audience to bring it back home today! Michael Kum was next to talk to us about what is a job scope of a project manager. He came in with full of details and points to give us all a good overall view on his job. Speaker number 4, Chan Weng May came in to give us a good laugh with her speech #2 from the Advanced manual - Humorously Speaking Manual. She talked about how body language and a smile can change a person's attitude towards you. Last but not least, Kay Wong did her final project on the Successful Club Series. She taught us to break from our own comfort zone and gave us a good headstart on where can TM bring us in the future. She wants us to go beyond in Taman Indrahana and be more initiative in joining other clubs and pick up some roles to play.

Overall, an amazing night it is! Full of laughter, joy, happiness and good fellowship! That's the way a TM meeting should be! When a person just got off work, and wants to release all the stress load for the day. A toastmasters meeting is where someone should be! Especially Taman Indrahana, where it is filled with people from various types of jobs and background! A place to socialise and make new friends.

Message from the Division Governor

Good day to all of you.   T here was once myself and NJ Singam (past  convention   organizing  Chair) went to one of the local bank to close the  convention  bank account. When we went to the counter, we informed the officer about the matter and she handed us 2 forms for us to initial it. Then she obtained our Identification Card for verification. Just within 4 minutes, the officer handed us the remaining balance and told us that, the account was closed. It was a total contrast, if we compared with opening a bank account, where we had to fill few forms, go through few  verification  and approvals prior to opening an account. The entire process took almost 2.5hours compared to closure of account which lasted only for 5 minutes.     We often forget or never ponder on the  initiator  of the club and their sacrifice &  hard work  to charter the club and we just need a single sheet of paper to close a ...

Updates from TI

February 2013 Board Meeting The 2012-2013 Board of Directors will meet February 22-23, 2013, in Southern California. The Board held its first in-person meeting after the convention in August. Since that time, the Board's committees have met virtually, focusing on topics that support the 2010 Strategic Plan. These virtual meetings have reduced the amount of time Board members need to spend at in-person meetings . This year's February Board meeting schedule has been reduced to two days. Following the completion of the meeting, the results of the discussions will be shared in writing on the Toastmasters International website instead of at a public board briefing or through streaming video. The meeting will be shorter and less expensive, however, the reporting will still be provided in a timely manner. Members can visit the Toastmasters International website to see the results of the Board meeting on February 25 and the ILC officer nomination results on February 23....
