Message from the Division B Governor

Fellow Toastmasters of Division B,
Good day to all of you.
In August 2009, I took part in Adidas King of the Road Race (21 km) at Shah Alam. The route rather hilly and weather was humid. Nevertheless, with adequate pacing, liquid and stretching I managed to finish the race with realistic timing. There was another runner whom was struggling to finish the race. With the will power and the confidence that he had " I will do it", he reached the finishing lane. Few minutes, the runner fainted and rushed to the medical camp for 1st aid treatment. 15 minutes later, he woke up and told that he is fine and has will power to drive back home.
As he reached the car, he fainted again at the car park and rushed to nearest medical center. Unfortunately, on the way to medical center, he blew his final breath. Upon postmortem, the doctors reported that, the boy was not fit to take part in any sporting activities and required passive rest for 6 months. The boy should have been realistic to his health condition before taking part in thecompetition.
The lesson I learnt was, we could have the will power or I can do attitude BUT we should be REALISTIC with our targets and aims. As club leaders, with 51 days more, we need to assess the realistic targets to be achieved by end of the term. Else, the exco would be burnt out and would not have no interest in continuing to serve the club as members or exco.
One of the criteria of goal setting in SMART is realistic. Thus, will power is not enough but we need to be realistic in our goals.

Ice Breaker Speech: Myself by Ang Poon Kenn

Good evening everyone, my name is Ang Poon Kenn, everyone calls me Ken. Today, the title of my speech is about Myself. As far as I could recall, me parents were not staying with me since I was 3 years old; they went overseas and started their new working life for some reason, and did not come back ever since. I'm staying with my grandmother, and she look after my elder brother, younger sister and me. I actually have not met my parents for more than 18 years and only communicate through the phone and social media. Can you imagine, 15 years of not seeing your own parents? 18 years of not having parents around the house, school and life. My grandmother take over my mother's role, she does all the housework for us. She takes care of us. My relative, they are not rich but they sponsor me for my education and pocket money. However, even though I have the love from my grandmother and relatives, I felt that I'm different from others. They have parents accompany them during
