On the last Tuesday, we have celebrate the Toastmasters' 90th Anniversary. For your information, Toastmasters International was established in 1924 ~ It was a fun and educative meeting! Toastmasters of the Evening, Yeoh Cheng Lim kick started the meeting by sharing with us the history and background of Toastmasters International. The highlight and the uniqueness of this meeting was we featured heavyweight role players to show case the strength and spirit of Indrahanians! From toastmasters of the evening, table topic evaluator, speech evaluators, table topic master, humour master, Ah ounter and timer, all roles were played by senior members such as Yeoh, Chrristine, LeAnn, Ho Fong Ming, KK Ng, Mustzah, Lim Thian Seng, Siew Peng, Alice Ong and Dr Devi (name listed in no particular order). On 9 th September 2014, members and guests of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club turned up for the meeting in a warm manner, as everyone celebrated Mid-Autumn Festival – the theme of the meeting – together. The meeting room was decorated with lanterns with mooncakes served along with the refreshments. The meeting started off with the opening address by our president, Ting Pei Lim, CC. Before she ended her speech, Pei Lim took out her ukulele and played 月亮代表我得心 “The Moon Represents My Heart” by the late Teresa Teng, with the audience started singing along. Technology came in handy when some members took out their smartphones and searched for the lyrics of the song. I have truly witnessed the quality of Toastmasters at the recent International Toastmasters Convention 2014 (“ITC 2014”) held from 20th – 23rd August 2014 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. As a first timer to the ITC 2014, I was excited to experience the educational and leadership programmes in store and to meet new friends. On the second day of the convention, after a delightful shopping spree for our Taman Indrahana club's inventory at the Toastmasters Marketplace, I entered a hall to attend an educational talk. Suddenly, I realized that I had lost one of my bags (Oh no !). I remembered I left it at the Toastmasters Marketplace. I swiftly rushed back to the Marketplace (it is about 5-8 minutes’ walk from the hall). On my way there, I fervently hoped that my belongings were still there. Meeting has long adjourned but the mentoring session just started. The photo was captured at one of the toastmasters meetings held recently. The passion of the mentors and the eagerness of learning of the mentees prompted me to snap this photo. The above sharing session lasted for about 30-40 minutes after the meeting adjourned. Mentoring is an essential part of Toastmasters movement as it helps new member to learn, master and hone public speaking and leadership skills. Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Club has a well-balanced blend of experienced and new members. Recently, the author did an analysis, the median of the toastmastering experience of Taman Indrahana Toastmasters Clubs' members is 8 years! A young and cheerful lady, at the age of 23 has unlocked the secret of happiness when she listened to the CD of The Secret, by Rhonda Bryne. She concluded her speech that the secret of happiness is  ASK, BELIEVE, RECEIVE . Her speech reminded me that how blessed I am with what I have now and that is true happiness. When we are grateful, we are at the state of happiness. I am counting and appreciate the blessing that I have. The recent flight tragedies that happened strike me with a realization that we do not know when we may face calamity.
