Super duper uber meeting on 22th July

We have just finished our toastmasters meeting today. It was an exuberant evening ignited by exciting line of table topic and prepared speech speakers, evaluators and our energetic Madam General Evaluator, Grace Tan, ACB, CL.

KK Ng, CTM was our table topic master of the day. We have 5 speakers took part in the table topic session today. They are Dr Devi, DTM, Ailin, CC, Raja Mohan (guest), Karen Sze Tho, CC and Jeremy, TM. Dr Devi shared that in order to achieve our dream we need to think out of the box, Raja Mohan on the need to act on the dream to make it a reality, Ailin on seeing the dream within, Jeremy on how to plan to achieve our dream and lastly, Karen shared on living out our dream.

Today we have three speakers delivering their prepared speeches. Yvonne Leong, TM  and Seow Huey, TM delivered speech CC# 2: organize your speech.  Yvonne shared on her childhood story and how her mother guided her through and teaches her to be a good person whereas Seow Huey shared the impact of climate change and how to mitigate climate change and global warming. She reminds us that we do not inherit the earth from our ancestors but we borrow it from our children! The third speaker, Jean Ng, CC, CL delivered advanced manual speech: Project #1: speaking to inform. Her topic is on the science of happiness and the secret formula given by her is ask, believe and received!

Evaluators are important as they involve in accessing and evaluating speeches in order to assist fellow toastmasters to improve and develop good public speaking and communication skills. Ong Beng Chung, CC evaluated table topic speakers, Dominic Joseph, DTM evaluated speaker no.1, Yvonne, TM, Thian Seng, ACG, ALB evaluated Seow Huey and Ho Fong Ming, DTM evaluated Jean Ng, CC, CL.

Message from the Division Governor

Good day to all of you.   T here was once myself and NJ Singam (past  convention   organizing  Chair) went to one of the local bank to close the  convention  bank account. When we went to the counter, we informed the officer about the matter and she handed us 2 forms for us to initial it. Then she obtained our Identification Card for verification. Just within 4 minutes, the officer handed us the remaining balance and told us that, the account was closed. It was a total contrast, if we compared with opening a bank account, where we had to fill few forms, go through few  verification  and approvals prior to opening an account. The entire process took almost 2.5hours compared to closure of account which lasted only for 5 minutes.     We often forget or never ponder on the  initiator  of the club and their sacrifice &  hard work  to charter the club and we just need a single sheet of paper to close a ...

Updates from TI

February 2013 Board Meeting The 2012-2013 Board of Directors will meet February 22-23, 2013, in Southern California. The Board held its first in-person meeting after the convention in August. Since that time, the Board's committees have met virtually, focusing on topics that support the 2010 Strategic Plan. These virtual meetings have reduced the amount of time Board members need to spend at in-person meetings . This year's February Board meeting schedule has been reduced to two days. Following the completion of the meeting, the results of the discussions will be shared in writing on the Toastmasters International website instead of at a public board briefing or through streaming video. The meeting will be shorter and less expensive, however, the reporting will still be provided in a timely manner. Members can visit the Toastmasters International website to see the results of the Board meeting on February 25 and the ILC officer nomination results on February 23....
